Budapest, May 22 (MTI) - Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, visiting Hungary at the invitation of his counterpart Pal Schmitt, on Sunday laid flowers at the statues of two foreign translators in Kiskoros, a south Hungarian town where Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi (1823-1849) was born. Poet Grigol Abashidze (1914-1994) translated Petofi's poems into Georgian, and Bagrat Shinkuba (1917-2004) into Abkhaz. Both memorials stand in a local garden featuring the statues of 17 translators of Petofi works. Saakashvili and Schmitt are scheduled to hold talks in Budapest on Monday. The two presidents will then unveil a statue of Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli (1172-1216) at a square to be named after him in Budapest. The Georgian president will also meet Speaker of Parliament Laszlo Kover and attend a business forum.
